Laura Thompson

Laura Thompson, born and raised in York, England, now resides in the East Yorkshire countryside, where natural surroundings inspire her watercolour art and surface patterns.

She attended art college courses for six years and earned a first-class arts degree in BA (Hons) Textiles and Surface Pattern Design. Since then, Laura gained ten years of experience in graphic design and photography.

Laura has worked as a freelance designer and illustrator since 2017. She has sold designs internationally and worked with various companies to create art that has been licensed for products.

“I love to paint so many subjects, it is hard to choose,” says Laura. “However, botanicals, animals, fruits, vegetables, sea-side and ocean motifs are at the top of my favourites list. I have also developed my children’s picture book portfolio recently which has been an enjoyable challenge.”
