Currently, Bethany Berndt-Shackelford works from home as a surface designer. Products with her licensed art can be found in 10,000 stores across the country including Walmart, Target, Lowe’s, Jo-Ann Fabric, Hobby Lobby, Borders Books and HomeGoods. She won two Emmys for her computer graphics work at NBC for on-air news/promotion graphics and a third Emmy for work on the Star Trek series Deep Space Nine. Her experience in animation and in computer-aided arts and design has led to work on commercials and the Oscar-winning special effects team for the film Independence Day. At her company Pingorama, Shackelford and partners designed and manufactured kids’ clothes that were sold in over 900 stores in the U.S. and Japan. In addition to working at home, she spends time with her children, Tatum and Teaghan, which she says “is the best job yet.”
